Napoli Reviews

Dansk:

-Henriette Devantier (Ungt Teaterblod)

English:

“It was something of a star cast that the Royal Ballet presented to the re-premiere of Napoli. The main roles were danced by Holly Dorger (Teresina) and Jonathan Chmelensky (Gennaro), and they are so technically talented that you feel blown away by their abundance of technique. Their chemistry flourished and grew with the performance. “ -Henriette Devantier (Ungt Teaterblod)

Dansk:

English:

“Other than the decoration, it’s a perfect Giselle evening. Holly Jean Dorger is a lightning sharp ballerina, but here she also receives the opportunity to show a touching vulnerability that dresses her. Her forgiveness of Albrecht in the second act is heartbreaking beautiful.” – Per Lundsgaard (XQ28)

Dansk:

– Kulturtid

English:

“The embodiment of the beautiful ballet, Giselle (Holly Jean Dorger) and Albrecht (Jonathan Chmelensky),  supplies all the way through second act. With superhuman grace and adorable interactions they swim in turn and together over the dance floor.” -Kulturtid

Dansk:

– Svend Klarskov (Frederiksborg Amts Avis)

English:

Holly Jean Dorger immediately appears complete with innocence in her entrance and she gives a nervous approach to Albrecht. Can she trust him now?! She plays quite vulnerable – with conviction – and that she is suffering from severe pain because of Albrecht’s assurance that she is the only one.
Giselle is done. She is almost wiped out with the willies. She appears as a living death. In this part of the story, Holly Jean Dorger is able to gesture strongly and thoroughly – not least because her slightly weak radiance fits well with the rhythm of the hell.” -Sven Klarskov (Frederiksborg Amts Avis)

Dansk:

English:

Seeing Holly Jean Dorger go from bubbly and innocent youth to demonic nymph in an almost schizophrenic eruption is a delight, nothing but to watch and be captured!” – Clara Lindstrøm Gleerup

Etudes Reviews

Dansk:

English:

“The final ballet of the evening was Harald Lander Etudes, which never gets tiring to look at if it’s danced well. This evening we were in safe hands with Holly Jean Dorger as the most beautiful ballerina surrounded by Andreas Kaas and Jon Axel Fransson as noble soloists. The soloists were in bulletproof style…” -Per Lundsgaard, (XQ28)

“In the role of the ballerina, Holly Jean Dorger danced with a lovely softness in her arms, although she isn’t the obvious type to that part (sylph section).  But throughout all the steps were beautifully shot fireworks. ” –Majbrit Hjelmsbo

Swan Lake Reviews:

Holly Dorger and Jonathan Chmelensky in Swan Lake, 2018

Dansk:

English:

“Holly Dorger has a wonderful radiance about her but there is always a sad mood over her, which is an excellent approach to the role of Odette. She expresses suffering already from her first entrance which comes from her dictator Von Rothbart. Her dance is delivered delicately and gripping – embodied in perfection. And thus, Dorger kept it all the way through the show. On the stage in the Queen’s party scene, Dorger is articulate in her performance as Odile, but of course Von Rothbart, who acts as a “doll master”, controls the strings. By the lake she appears uninspired, pitiful and pale. Dorger depicts Odette’s death’s in an excellent way. Seductive! -Af Svend Klarskov (Frederiksborg Amts Avis)

Dansk:

English:

“It’s almost flying magic when Holly Jean Dorger stands alone on the big stage in the Opera and dances her first solo in Swan Lake. Magic is also there when she meets her prince, the beautiful, elegant and noble Jonathan Chmelensky. You can clearly notice the thrill between them in the theater. Sparks also hit the flour when they dance the pas de deux in the second act act where Holly Jean Dorger transforms herself from the innocent white swan Odette to the seductive black swan of Odile. Rarely I have seen so safe and strong fouette pirouettes like Holly Jean Dorger – and what balances! “- Per Lundsgaard (XQ28)

Dansk:

English:

“On Saturday for the re-premiere Holly Dorger danced the role of Odette / Odile, the white and black swan princess. She did so well. The evening’s joy. The cursed white swan without a smile and with a little provocation as the black Odile. The steps were where they should be.” -Ulla Strømberg (Kulturkupeen)

Nutcracker Reviews

Dansk:

English:

The Sugar Plum is the queen of the magical universe that Marie and the prince arrive to. Holly Jean Dorger is able to take the audience in hand and lead us safely in her interpretation of the beautiful candy land. She is all that all little ballerina girls dream of being! Jewels (Diamonds) Reviews

Dansk:

“Sidste del er juvelen over dem alle: Diamanter.

English:

“The last part is the jewel over them all: Diamonds. Holly Jean Dorger and Gregory Dean are the main couple and they are all you could wish for. Both in their many solo’s and in the equilibrium in their pas de deux, there is no vague movement. It is precise, safe and adorably beautifully danced. ” –Per Lundsgaard (XQ28)

Dansk:

-fyraften

English:

With Tchaikovsky music, impressive jumping and piruettes are served as well as a glowing pas de deux by Holly Jean Dorger and Gregory Dean. Like Odette in Swan Lake, Holly Jean Dorger drapes into her partner’s arms, and together the two dancers create a small, concentrated love story that with its dazzling nerve is more a mere enjoyable escape into beauty. Holly Jean Dorger and Gregory Dean’s gripping interpretation of Balanchine’s pas de deux talks about the power of devotion – and fragility therein. It’s a rather serious and complex matter and “just a matter of desire”. -fyraften

Dansk:

-Vibeke Wern (Berlingske)

English:

“A highlight of ‘Diamonds’ is the big slow and demanding pas de deux which was dazzling, beautifully and confidently danced by Holly Jean Dorger and Gregory Dean.” – Vibeke Wern (Berlingske)

Dansk:

English:

“The many competent dancers in diamond clothes, white and sparkling, bring the level up in the championship class. Especially the slow and elegant pas de deux danced by Holly Jean Dorger and Gregory Dean shows the company’s highest level.” -Lars Vestergaard

Ballet De Luxe Review

Dansk:

– Vibeke Wern (Berlingske)

English:

But the highlight of the second part of the show is Balanchine’s little refined bravura ballet “Tjaikovskij pas de deux” from 1960 to music that Tchaikovsky originally composed for “Swan Lake”. Here, Holly Jean Dorger and Alban Lendorf are an extremely elegant and safe couple in the inventive and equilibrium choreography. She is floating high in the air and jumping into his arms, fascinating with his easy jumps and strength.” – Vibeke Wern (Berlingske)
